Thumbs up For all you smart mechanics out there!!

I recently replaced my intake manifold gasket on my 1985 civic 1.5 in an attempt to remedy a lean running condition in the two cylinders on the drivers side of the engine. I figured surely that the intake leak was casuing air to enter two of the cylinders leaning out the fuel mixture killing the cylinders and causing them to become covered in gas and carbon. Well, I replaced the gasket and voila! things run much better. Only problem is......the plugs still fould out!!!!!!!! im not burning oil. I am not losing oil. its only 2 of the plugs on the driver's side that are doing it! could this be a vacuum leak or something? I checked the hoses around the carburetor and discovered one of them was unplugged. I plugged it back in and it slowed down the ultra fast idle I was having, not sure if it could have fouled out the plugs though. the hose I pluggged back in was on the left side of the air filter housing. the hose its self plugged into a little orange plastic piece. I am not really sure what that part does. I am completely at a loss for ideas right here.

Gah - I had an 85 CRX and that thing was an absolute mess of vacuum hoses. Best thing I can say to do is gently start spritzing brake cleaner around each vac line while the car is running. If it changes the idle, you've found your vacuum leak.

I know right?! there are a ton of vac hoses all over the place. I will check for leaks today. I just replaced the intake manifold gasket, so maybe while I was messing with all that stuff I busted a dry rotted vac line or hooked some of them up the wrong way. Ill let ya know.
