Window Tinting Question
SubscribeI'm planning on getting my windows tinted for my 05 civic ex 4dr. How much does it cost to get done? How much did yall pay (if you have a similar car to mine)?
It depends on alot of different things to be honest.
1) Where your getting it done
2) What type (brand) of tint they are using
3) How dark the tint is
4) What all your getting tinted
I would search in your area for shops that do tinting and ask them for an estimate then try to see some work that they have done to make sure its good.

Around here I think $150 is average for standard tints.
i paid $93 with a lifetime warranty for my 2dr. i kno someone from the same place that paid $128 for his 4dr w/lifetime warranty.
Hi guys, I really think to tint my windows, at least to have them done by a professional. I found that online:
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN WISCONSIN?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Wisconsin, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in.
When they say 35% or 50% is that the lowest number I can ask for? Does it mean that 97EXSweetSusie's 15% tint would be illegal here? What do I risk if I do like 97EXSweetSusie ?
I would like to see the difference if you have some pics to show me
Thanks.
EDIT: By the way, do you tint the moonroof window too or not?

i'm right on the border too! RockfordISH to be exact... Anyway, I have 25% tint on my 2dr and paid $200 with a lifetime warranty. I have WI plates, as I own more land in WI than IL and I purchased the car in WI. The only place i've been given a hard time was in IL and that was after they found out I still have an IL drivers license. They still couldn't write me a ticket because in WI you can have the front drivers, and passengers side windows tinted but the law is as you stated. I got 25% because during the day you can still see inside pretty well and what cop is going to be able to tell me what tint I have on my ride anyway?Originally Posted by Mazhev

Thanks. cops have a device to measure window tint, incase you were wondering. here in MD, first offense you just get a fix-it-ticket. second is when you get fined.

Where did you go to have them tinted?
I dont' want to tinted the car with 2 different films (different %), It won't look nice. My car doesn't even have 200 miles on it

Thanks for your answers

I live in florida and the only time they bother anyone for the window tint is if you are doin something else and they cant write u a ticket so they will just give u a BS fine for the tint. All up to the cop that pulls you over normally for like 15 and 20% they dont bother but if u are being stuipd or somthing the they will mess with you for haveing the 5% like i got.

I went to All-star window tint in Rockford, he does it in his garage and his name is Joe, I paid 200 with a life-time warranty against defects and scratches. If you get a fix-it ticket he'll peel it off for free. He will also re-apply for 1/2 price if you want to try again with a different shade. Give him a call... spent $250 for 35% llumar tint on my sedan all 7 windows. its expensive but after 5 yrs, it still looks very good. i think it was worth it, and the cuts are all like a machine did it cause the tint guy has been doing this a long time lol
i think my window tintes came precut, possibly a reason for the cheap price. but its warrantied, so hey, im happy.
