Please help! 98' Civic Si

Hi All,

I have had my 98 Civic Si since May 07. It was running great with no problems. I have kept up regular oil changes. It has 210,000k (mostly highway). Anyways, my problem is that over Christmas it sat for a few days and when I went to leave for work, it wouldnt start. I towed it to a mechanic who looked at it for 30 mins and said there isn't much compression and he said there was no oil in it. He said I need a new engine. I find this extremely hard to believe. Any ideas on things to look for?

When I first tried to start it, it almost started but then died off. Now it wont do anything... no clicking.. no nothing... I noticed the wire going to my battery was a bit cheesy and cleaned it up. I also tighted all noticable wires.

Please Help!
Kristin

first: CHECK the oil and make sure there is enough. With out oil you WILL destroy your engine.

Second: If nothing happens when you try to start the car (ie no clicking or sounds of any sort) then your battery is probably dead. Do any of your lights turn on??? If not, get someone to jump your car and head somewhere to get a new battery. Have them check your alternator to make sure its still working.

If this is not the case then it could be multiple things. Go check and see if the battery is good first though.

well even if you did need a new engine your car will still try to start when you turn the key. when you tried to start it did it just crank but the engine never turned on? as helmet said check your oil levels first and try to jump the car as well. during the cold your battery water could have gotten frozen or something, check the water inside the battery as well. if you didnt bring the car to a reputable shop in town it could be that he is pulling your leg just to get a load of extra cash. keep us updated!
