hey guys, im ahad here from islamabad,pakistan...no im not a terrorist! :P n e ways for an intro in pakistan we have alot of street racing and hella fast civics and other cars, i know u must be like wtf? pakistan? well yeah we hav dyno here at a tuner shop called hpr and there loads of evos,supras, civics that are tuned to 500+ whp... n e ways enough of that, now the thing is that i have a d16w9 (paki version of d17 with no internals aftermarket support such as internals, cams etc) now the thing is that water went through my long ram intake a while bak and the engine siezed, leading to a bent rod, i drove the car around a while n got it fixed by an unexperienced mechanic who had no clue of wat he was doing. he fixed it n replaced the already messed up crank that got damaged along wit the rod. Later i turbod it at 6 psi and, therefore my engine gave up and the crank and rod got fukd once more, leaving me with no choice other than to get a whole new block, the d16w9 here costs around $550, with a $100 labour, and the d17 costs around $800. Now im confused, what shud i do? i do hav money probs at the moment so if i get the d16w9 (supposivedly as the hpr guys say, the d16/d17 on stock internlas cant take more than 180 whp, now is that true?) if it is than ill have to stick to a 175 whp civic, if i get the d17 (with a few donations from here and there) i have an option to later on in a year or so build it and take it to 250+n wheels wit new cams, internals, etc. THe actual question here is that along with changing the cams,internals, clutch, etc etc, what else will i have to change to support the 250+ whp? such as a stronger tranny etc etc? is it a hassle? now im the type of guy who wants a fast car yet not bieng a drag monster...

Welcome to the site, but holy Wall of Text! Let me see if I can pull out your questions.

D17 can take about 200-210 whp before things start getting flaky. Of course there are tons of variables here, but that's a good rule of thumb.

You hit all the major points on wanting to build a strong motor, don't forget fueling. A lot of your high HP guys here haven't done anything to their trannys simply because there isn't much you can do to them. Not much support there. I've heard rumors that the older cable-shift Si trannys fit, but I don't have any concrete proof of that.

@speedfoos, thnks bro! so like pretty much i hav nothing to change on the tranny in order for it to not break down at 250 whp? if i remain d16 stock, then 175 whp is fine i guess?

175 whp should be fine as long you have good compression and regular maintenance (oil changes and whatnot) have been done on it. If it's a manual tranny and you don't beat the **** out of it, you should have no issues.

Nope not fully built yet. Everything but the rods and pistons has been upgraded though. Internals will get done when I get back to the states next year. Well, hopefully. I'm putting a built head on it tomorrow and if I discover that I've got blown piston rings, then I will have built internals a lot sooner!

the k20 is out of my range, its around 6k over here...its a k20a type R...im makin a new topic in the forced induction forum...im sure there will be more responses
