Can anyone help me?
Can anyone help me?
I'm just trying to find some somewhat quick, and relatively simple performance mods i can do to my 2007 honda civic si sedan. Looking for something that can give it a HEALTHY little extra umph... right now since i just got it i will not consider doing anythign that will void the warranty. so if i can do someething somewhat cheaply that i can have the dealer do even. i just want to get the leg up on the competition, to secure me beating most people off the line on my mini drag races at stop lights. any recommendations welcomed! it is also very important that whatever i do will not be unhealthy for the car even in the long run.
thanks all,
Brent
thanks all,
Brent

Re: Can anyone help me?
i use mobil 5000 dino oil. some here use mobil 1. they say you should pick either synthetic, or dinosaur, and stick with one or the other. personally, i think using name brand oil, and changing it when recommended is good enough. recommendations change if you turbo or heavily modify your engine, tho.
as far as air filters go, i'd get a short ram intake, and put that on, preferably a name brand one, like AEM, Injen, or weapon r. I'm not sure what's available for the 8th gens. I'm a fan of AEMs dry flow filter, tho. Some will recommend a K&N drop in filter, but they don't meet specs for filtration efficiency, and could **** with your warranty. I've had my car serviced at John Holtz a few times, for some warranty stuff, and they've been cool about my few mods. I've had clutch issues, and they haven't tried to blame it on the intake, or the lowered suspension. I'm not sure how Dick Ide Honda is with that sort of thing. The only thing i've noticed about Holtz is they're lazy, and like to use the "vehicle is operating as designed" excuse to not fix ****. I've made friends with American Honda customer service, tho.
edit: as far as the intake goes, some will argue that a generic ebay intake is fine, as long as you get a name brand filter. However, there have been so many complaints regarding poor fit, or breakage with the ebay intakes, i say pay the 100 bucks on ebay, and get something you've heard of. I'm not sure what kind of gains you're looking at on that K20 with an intake, but i'm sure it's more than i got on my D17. If you need any local help, hit me up via pm or aim.
