my new ex head!!!
my new ex head!!!
i just got my new used rebuilt ex head. now i can finally have the power of vtec. im going to buy a crower stage 1 cam for it once i buy my vafc2. which by the way, does anybody know of any basic settings for the vafc2, just so i can get by until i get it dyno'd. and does anybody know where i could take it to get dyno'd in central california? it would be awesome if somebody knew of a place. or just some basic settings for it until i find a dyno shop.
Re: my new ex head!!!
i know a guy who has a shop. he builds hot rods in it, and im able to go use any tool or machine he's got, but he has no dyno, and thats what i need. so does anybody know of a dyno shop in the central/northern california area, that i could take my car to to have it tuned?
Re: my new ex head!!!
since u ready to upgrade ur noun-vtec head to a vtec head..u might well just upgrade the Pistons, Vavles and Retainers Springs.. then u dont have to upgrade it again if u plan to turbo charge ur car later on. just internal upgrade can give u close to 140whp and up on dyno..excludin all the cat back, hearder, cam gear, pully...etc. hope u find a dyno shop soon..good luck
Re: my new ex head!!!
well im planning on buying the crower vt upgrade and either a stage 2 or 3 cam, i just dont have an ecu capable of using that yet, all ive got is a vafc2. and if i was going to upgrade the cams and valve train, i might as well get the whole thing ported and polished while im at it. im probably also going to fit the d16y8 im onto it, i figure itll be easier than doing it while its in the engine bay. but as far as internals, im definitely not going to higher comp. pistons cause im planning on turbo charging it someday. ill just end up buying a block and building that up someday.

Re: my new ex head!!!
i plan to buy the dezod s1 turbo kit after i get my get my custom 2.5" exhaust and install my ex head with the crower stage 1 cam with the d16y8 intake manifold/throttle body and 310cc injectors. i hope to be running atleast 230whp@8psi tuned with the emanage or something like that. someday ill build up a block and be pushing 280whp@14psi. but that wont be for a long time, if it happens. but ill be at 230whp sometime soon.
Re: my new ex head!!!
I'd go with a stage III cam and k pro. No question about it, you'll make more power at lower boost levels that way. On my old setup with the AEM and stock vtec head, I put down 247 whp on 13.5 psi. With the cam in, at 18 psi, I put down 335 whp. Do the math with that cam....almost 100 whp with only 4.5 psi of boost. That tells you just how restrictive a stock cam is.
Re: my new ex head!!!
is the head swap really the best solution? becuz i'm going to turbo my car as the last step but i want to rebuild my engine head. i have an 02 civic lx non-vtec. but you see the thing about is that at the lx is a 9.5.1 compression and the ex is a 9.9.1 compression, better for n/a. but the problem i'm having is finding aftermarket cams for the lx model and i dont want to sacrifice the compression if i dont have to and besides if i turbo i'm going to have to disable v-tec becuz v-tec does not respond well to turbo......i deff. need some advice on what too do.......

Re: my new ex head!!!
the block gives u that compression ratio not the head... u dont need to cut off vtec thats y many ppl swap the d17a2 head when boosting an lx (y do u think they make after market turbo cams for the a2?). the only cams for an lx are custom made i believe. and y are u wondering about swapping heads if u plan to disable vtec neways??
