Question Have a question???

Has anyone with an 04-05 civic lx upgraded their non-vtec motors to vtec by adding all the hardware necessary and redoing their ECU to perform the conversion? If so, I'm very interested in knowing because I am thinking about doing this but would like to know from someone who already has just so I know what to expect. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

i'd just buy the engine instead of adding all the parts and components, simply because its not really cost effective, unless you plan on building up the engine.

I did this conversion on my 01 which will be the basically same idea with your 05. Vtec is a great thing when you go from not having it to having it and all you will basically need is a Ex head gasket, Ex head, valve cover gasket and a VAFC 2 vtec controller which bypasses getting a an Ex's ecu. Whenever I did it i had the head ported and polished and got a stage 1 crower camshaft mainly because stage 2 was more difficult and expensive because you needed the titianum valve springs and retainers and i gained to the wheels of 15 hp so i have about 100.9 hp to the wheels. Not to mention also that if you wantted to boost the car this is prime because the compression is lower than that of Ex's so you can hold more boost than an Ex.
