safe for teens?

I have a Civic myself and my son loves to drive it. I have noticed that they seem to be very popular with other teenagers in our area as well. Would a Civic be a safe car for me to buy for my teenage son? He really wants one and I think he would enjoy customizing it, but I want to make sure he is safe.

personally, i know he will not appreciate it as much if you buy it, but that's not the question at hand.. they are fairly safe.. there are a few things you can do tomakeit safer, and some of them are considered "cool" mods as well, strut bars for example... if you insist on buying him a car, a civic is a good choice...

My son ribs me

My son keeps giving me a ribbing because I bought a car that all the high school and college kids want. Does it make me feel young? I don't know, I've always felt like an eight year old. But it is fun to drive and I highly recommend it to all teens. It's economical, safe, and stylish.

If you must drive a stick, I would recommend it also - some are tougher than others - this one is pretty good. I mentioned that I would teach my 21-year-old son on this. I took him to the high school parking lot a few weeks ago - he picked it up really well in just a few minutes. That impressed me.

I think the late models are pretty darn safe. The 06 has airbags everywhere, crumple zones, and abs. He can put a little money into it to customize but you dont have to worry about him turning out 400 horsepower. Personally I think they may be safer for the less experienced driver than a SUV or Jeep. If you want him even safer, get a Volvo.

Thanks. I really want him to have a safe car. The strut bars sound like a good idea. I have been considering what some of you have said about me buying it for him, and I think now I am going to let him buy it himself.Or at least mostly himself. I may help a little with the down payment. I think he'll take better care of it if he pays for most of it himself.
