Yeah, nice car, but they are also saying that there is going to be so much technology in the car that it will be virtually impossible to do any kind of aftermarket work to it.

I would take an STI purely based on reliability alone, let alone other factors!

eh id take either i do love the STi because of the top mount intercooler and hood scoop but the Evo is quicker in 0-60 times

truthfully, the tmic and hood scoop are the 2 worst features of wrx's and sti's.... if you put a fmic kit on an sti, it will make tons more power than stock... also, parts for sti/wrx are infinately cheaper because if you take all the sti's and all the wrx's out there and add the number together, you will have way less evo's.... and all the performance parts fit either car.... asside from pistongs rods, everything is based on the same bolt patterns etc. so a bolt on turbo upgrade for an sti will also bolt onto a wrx.... an intake tube will fit either... turbo piping is the same on both... intercooler mounts are the same... the wrx actually has a mount for an sti intercooler built into it.... you get my point by now... it ends up cheaper to buy parts for cars that are more readily upgraded... on top of all that... have any of you ever worked on an evo? it's not fun.... boxer engines are much more mechanic friendly... plus, i dont like the idea of replacing a clutch every few months

Front mounts are always better, hands down but I do own an impreza, which I am trading on my civic, they are great cars but the gas mileage just sux ***** so bad and insurance on the non-turbo with a perfect driving record is still high even for me.

Reason for this: parts, parts, parts. Hard to get on the aftermarket for scoobies and repair costs are very high.

Is it harder to put a front mount intercooler on an sti as far as running piping or would it be as normal as any other car? Also as far as handling which do you think would handle better in turns?

It's pretty much proven, that the evo handles much better, I read some pretty in depth articles on insideline.com and they pretty much spell it out!

it is easy.. 100% bolt on to put a fmic on an sti... evos do handle better.. but that's easily changed.. the only downfall on an sti's handling, is the body flex.... for 1000 bucks, (think of how much people spend on upgrading struts springs, anti roll bars etc... that's easily over 2k if you get all the stuff...) you can get a roll cage and that thing will be as stiff as.. well, this is a public forum so i won't go there

Great exterior looks. Futuristic as hell. I could do without the interior looking like the inside of a robot and that ridiculous wing the have to put on the back of every EVO. Seriously, where the hell are you going to be driving and need that much down force on the tail end?

YOu dont need it, but they want the car to have a rally look.
I agree its stupid, 99.9% of people will never rally with the EVO so theres no need for that wing on the road.

that wing would do absolutely nothing ina rally race.. hence why the evo VIII rs(rally sport) has no wing... it also doenst' have the fancy interior options like power windows and doors and stuff. as well as the seats.. because though the recaro seats are nice, they aren't the best for racing, so a real racer would replace it with a carbon kevlar seat anyway... also, the wing will help greatly at 120mph+ wich these cars really like doing.. this is also why the evo mr has the splitters on the roof near the rear window.. because they help w/ aerodynamics.. plese people do research if you dont know.. and if you dont want to do research, post it as an "i think" type answer...

EVO rally doesnt have a wing? Never noticed that, I will have to look next time.
If they dont use it on the track theres absolutely no point no the road!
