hey guys, currently i own a 2002 Civic Ex but lately i have turned my attention towards the Si's...hah they have seemed to "grow" on me. Anyway, for you that have owned a civic dx, lx, hx or ex and now drive the Si..are you glad you do or would you like to go back. I am seriously considering trading my vic in for an Si....just wanted some opinions. thanks alot
I had a 02' dx, even found a wrecked crv for 5000 to make it awd, but because it'd take more money to do the drivetrain than the engine and everything else I traded for a 04' Si. The difference is pretty amazing, I remember my first week I was thinkin damn... I was slow. In stock form the Si made you feel like you just couldn't stress the engine,(unlike the D17) yet there was alot more power! Once I added the V2 and DC headers it now sounds like it's supposed to, but next year I gotta go FI. If possible go with the 04' model it has bigger rims on 205's, side skirts, and better suspension.

just remember, the Si is more of a corner carver than a straight line car. everyone that ever says that they need more power and wants a turbo is usually only interreseted in acceleration and not handling, if thats you, you may not be happy with the Si after the newness wears off and you adjust to the hp gain. however, the Si reacts MUCH MORE noticeably to suspension/wheel/tire mods(from what ive noticed) than the coupe/sedan. my EX coupe never reacted so much to my 17" wheels like my Si did, i gave a little input in my Si with 17's, and it went more than i planned on, i had to adjust to it. anyway, im happy with the switch. some days i have second thoughts, but then i just get in and go for a drive and i remember why i traded.

I had a 02 EX for a year before I traded it in for my 2003 Si. I wouldnt go back for anything except that the coupe looks better to me, but the Si has grown on me. I find that having the hatch is pretty useful sometimes plus the power increase is nice. Everyone seems to love the seats. Once you get some mods on it its another new car. Plus I like the rareity factor of the Si. Do it you probably wont regret it.
I never owned an ex, but when I was shopping, I went to the honda dealer to buy one because I decided I didn't want to spend the extra money for the si. The ex was loaded and black, exactly what I wanted, the si was silver (my old car was silver and I've always wanted a black car but never end up with one) and the last '02 on the lot. They basically said I could have either one for about the same price, after driving them both, I HAD to go with the silver si.
I'm partial to hatchbacks, but I really liked the look of the coupe, but the accelleration and handling didn't seem like a big step up from my old cavalier. The si felt like it was a couple levels beyond what I was used to.
My only regret is not trying harder to negotiate for a black si.
