Engine or Transmission Issues? 03' Civic Hatchback :(
Engine or Transmission Issues? 03' Civic Hatchback :(
Greetings from the new guy!
03' Civic Hatchback 5 Speed SI
My engine light has been clicking on and off for a while now I thought it was emissions or cat.converter related but I think it may be more serious. Here's what's going on, other than the engine light.
I heard a rattle under the car while accelerating, when I got on the freeway I have cruise control on as I always use it. I was in 5th gear (This is a manual) and the car started to feel shaky and jerky, and loss of acceleration, like It popped out of gear or maybe clutch related? I got into the slow lane and cruised slow for a while, 5 minutes later it happened again, shaky car temporary loss of acceleration. It idles perfect, sounds good, never had a problem in the 2 years I've had it. 131,XXX miles, changed the transmission fluid around 110,000 miles, change oil every 3000-3500 miles.
Any possibly scenarios would be HIGHLY appreciated. I don't want to roll into a shop without some knowledge, I worked on VW's and Chevy's for years, I love Honda's but only know the basics...
Thanks.... in.... advance!

AutoZone will check your engine codes for free, if you don't have one locally or live in California (If I recall, they aren't allowed to check there) you can get a cheapie OBDII reader from Harbor Freight, $25-35. Completely worth having one if you work on your own cars.

I didn't even think of that. I didn't know codes would show up for a slipping gear or clutch issue (if thats the case) Will it? I should run codes anyways to see whats up. I do live in California.....

Awesome state, but it's run by a-holes with laws and regulations up the wa-zoooooo.
Well, randomly my oil light popped on, checked and the oil is VERY LOW. I have no leaks, why would it burn oil so fast? It's never burned or leaked oil before. Did aliens siphon my oil? What the heck?
