i use fram oil filters

part number ph7317 ...

the oil is up to you there.. i use quaker state high mileage synthetic..

regarding the 5w30 ... use 5w20 because your car is calibrated for 5w20 and if you a slightly thicker oil it can cause damage... ive never used anything outside whats recommended..

I also use Fram PH7317, with Penziol 5W-20. My dad is a mechanic, and he said to use it, so I trust him lol. As far as where to get Mobile, I have no idea becuase I dont buy it. My advice is just buy it in bulk when its on sale. Like I live near O'Reily's Autoparts and when its on sale I buy a few gallons then I am set for a while

Walmart should have it. They have an asston of oil.

Mobil 1 is cheapest at walmart i believe. But i'd recommend going with pennzoil platinum since its $2 cheaper, and a great oil.

5w-30 would work fine, but there is no reason to use it instead of 5w-20.

Good oil filters which are easy to find:

Purolator premium plus $3ish

Purolator pureone $5ish

Napa gold $6ish

Buying an expensive oil filter isn't necessary and is just a waste of money. I buy Wix oil filters which are the exact same as napa gold's.

If you want some really good stuff check out Amsoil and their filters, expensive but good.

you would be fine with 5w-30. I have been using it for a long time now and at 123K miles my car runs like a dream. no oil consumption of any type.

What he said. I'll add that the Pulator premium filter is MUCH better than the Fram filter. Fram filters (the base ones anyway) are rather scary when you look inside of them. And I agree with him the your oil is only as good as your filter, what the point of putting expensive oil in and then cheaping out on the filter? It's like having 10 armed guard at the front of a bank, and leaving the bank door wide open with no one there, why bother with the guards in the front?

Fram will not hurt your engine but for the same price you can get a much better filter like a Wix or Pure One. As far as oil, 5w30 will work fine, it will NOT cause damage to your engine. if you want more info on oil/filter visit www.bobistheoilguy.com

Sorry fram filter does not equal the same.

That like saying a corvette is crap because it's a GM. Not all GM are the same.

Even the Honeywell (Fram) filter has twice the filter media as your standard orange Fram filter, even if it is the same material, the extra filter media helps out.

well.... I don't have the link that put the two filters up agianst eachother directly. But do have some pics

Here is the S2000 Honda OEM filter and the cheap Orange Fram filter cut away. Yes I know the S2000 filter is not the same as the Honeywell OEM filter for the civic, but just look at the Fram. For the purpose of the Fram filter, they are constructed about the same rather if it's for the civic or the s2k.

Now here is the OEM Honeywell filter for the civic.

Anyway, you can see the OEM Honeywell (Fram) filter definately has more filter media, I'm not exactly sure how much better this makes the filtering, but the comparison that I can not find claimed it made a pretty good filter with the added media.
