Rep Power: 0 UPDATE: Well, I had Honda do the 20k mile service and they couldn't find anything wrong. However, they did replace the air filter.
I drove 250 miles highway without the AC and got 36mpg. This time I did 75mph the whole day.
I drove another 250 miles highway WITH AC, we'll find out today how I did. The needle is just a little below 1/2, so it's looking promising.

Rep Power: 277 man...20mpg?? that's crazy ..danyumm
I'd just take it to the dealer right away instead of spending money on some aftermarket stuffs since you got 04.
by the way, I drive on 17's , a 12" subwoofer , exaust, Injen CAI.
I still get around 31-33mpg on City+highway

Rep Power: 0 my 04 LX is 1,700 miles old and ever since I got the car, I averaged 32mpg city/highway. I shift at 4K RPM and no passengers. I changed to 215/45-17, lowered the car, occasional A/C and the mpg is the same. I get 35mpg city/highway when A/C is not being used.
I wonder how prominencecivic measures his mpg.

Rep Power: 0 See, you cant measure the mpg by almost emptying the gas tank. Theres a method posted by another member on how to measure your MPG.
To refresh:
1. Fill up the gas tank.
2. Reset Trip-meter to zero.
3. Drive 'til you see the gas needle at half tank position at least. (i.e. 215miles)
4. Pump gas 'til it clicks (i.e. gas pump reads 6.6 gallons)
4. 215.4 miles / 6.6 gallons = 32.63MPG
I try not to let the gas needle go below half a tank. I usually filler up as soon as I see the needle on that position to easily measure the mpg. I know when I hit 200 miles on the trip-meter and the needle is at half a tank, I am getting at least 30.30 mpg.

Rep Power: 0 There are many combinations why you are getting low mileage. The engine is not getting enough oxygen to burn the fuel, low coolant, rust particles in coolant, pressure wash radiator every year, radiator thermostat not opening/closing correctly, change air filter, change oil, change trasmission fluid, make sure all belts are tight with some gap, clean injectors/carbs, fuel filters, change spark plugs if burnt....
These are only some maintenance that is require during the schedule.

Rep Power: 258 Don't forget if you have big, heavy wheels and wide tires that's going to kill your mileage as well. A different overall wheel/tire diameter will change your trip-meter's accurancy on top of this. Forget about additives and go drive your car hard more often, blow out all that buildup you made by granny driving all the time.

215/45-17 and each wheel/tire is 42lbs. Cold tire pressure is 36psi front and 34psi rear. Gasoline is the 76 brand on 87 octane. Occasional A/C, with bumper to bumper traffic on the interstate freeway for like 30miles total. Average speed is 70mph. Car is barely in 2,000 mileage.
42mpg I am so not regretting trading my 2003 WRX with this LX when it comes to mpg

Rep Power: 787 I can't believe that. My car is stock, 15" alloys LIGHTER than the factory steelies, all new fluids and filters, lots of maintenance, and driving around shifting below 4k rpms most of the time. I have a single sub and amps, but the spare tire is removed to counteract that. I just don't understand!
Oh and Honda says the fuel filter is inside the tank and can't be replaced. It's supposed to last 100k miles or more at least.

Rep Power: 268 Setup: 03 LX Auto - stock but for floormats, windshield wipers, and soon to be installed speakers...probably going to pull the spare soon too. I drive almost all highway and I avg 32-35 MPG, probably trip odo about 395 between fills.

Rep Power: 428 Ok, I have just reached my half way mark and I am at 155 miles. WTF. Maybe I need to have my engine cleaned or my fuel system. Getting the fuel injection service. What do you all think.

Rep Power: 428 69,700, Auto transmission, I just changed my oil at 69,500. I added that Engine restore and lubricant to the oil, but that shouldnt affect it. I also just changed my spark plugs with NGK

for anyone who's getting crappy fuel economy, have you tried resetting the ECU to make it relearn the idle?
ECM/PCM idle relearn procedure:
-Make sure all electrical items are turned off
-Start engine. Hold engine speed at 3000RPM until radiator fan goes on.
-Let engine idle for about 5 minutes with throttle fully closed and all electrical items turned off.
*NOTE: If radiator fan comes on during this step, the time it is operating must not be included in the 5 minutes.

Rep Power: 787 Well the ecu is adaptive and learns when you drive. After burning a tank of gas, it should be optimized for greatest fuel mileage.

Rep Power: 410 I have the same problem as you, gearbox. I get around 23-25mpg tops, however I am doing 80% city driving, so I suppose that I am getting good mileage. All highway, however, it will not go much higher. I have gotten 26.5mpg with about 70% highway driving, 30% city.
When I first got the car (after my sister, that is) I would constantly be pushing it to catch up to my friends who drove V8 mercedes and I6 BMWs. That would explain my 18mpg.

Rep Power: 787 With mostly highway driving, I just got 37mpg. I'm shocked and it's either due to the new head, injector cleaner, HVS, or maybe all three. I think the greased lightning cleaner really helped.
However, my mpg is still low in the city like yours. Around 22-25 usually.

last week the odometer reached 15,000km and the last fill up calculation was 8.3L/100km (half hwy)
that was the best fuel economy i've ever gotten with the 2002 si-g (usa EX)
the car used to always average at 10L/100km
