FYI 2004 civic lx
I just upgraded my ground connections to resolve the flickering backlighting issue for gauges and swapped the bulbs in the ac backlighting to led since I had some out. Totally pnp with the led bulbs for the ac, however...
after reading on various posts here and others, I decided to swap the bulbs in the cluster, since people were saying they are bulbs also. THEY ARE IN FACT, NOT REMOVABLE BULBS! They are in the circuit board. The reason for this post is to clarify to others who may want to do as I did and try to put led bulbs in their gauge cluster, you cannot.

Yep, 03-05 were soldered SMT LEDs. 01-02 had the removable bulbs in the clusters. Had some dude almost 10 years ago try and call me out for being wrong (I had an 02, but I had an 03 cluster on hand bc I wanted to do the swap but got lazy and never did it). Ended up taking 360 degree pics of the 03 cluster to have him point out where the bulbs were on that one. lol
