Driver Door Glass Replacement Questions
Driver Door Glass Replacement Questions
Hey there. A friend of mine has a busted driver door window and I'd like to replace it for her. It's a 2002 4D with power windows.
I'd like to know if the window is glued or bolted to the regulator?
Is there any tricky parts to the job I should be aware of?
Is it a bear to get it properly aligned?
Any other info or links are appreciated.
Thanks!

2 bolts.

Straightforward. Yank off the door panel, it should be self explanatory.
Stuffing the vacuum cleaner in there to get the broken glass out is a trick. It's nearly impossible to get all of the broken glass out of the door. Expect it to rattle and rain glass out of the drains for a long time.

No sweat.

Get ALL of the broken glass out of the run channel seal. I use a pick or small screwdriver and the shop vac. Then a loooong screwdriver to get down in the door.
It may be easier for you to remove the seal to clean it out, then reinstall it.

Re: Driver Door Glass Replacement Questions
Um, a thought: The last one I did that was broken was an 9th gen, last week.
The owner had ran the power window regulator UP, and since there was no glass to stop it from moving, it had jumped off track. I had to pull the regulator out of the door and jack with it to get the plastic guide back on the regulator track.
I don't recall having to do this to a 7th gen, but I figure I should mention it.
