Question Window Trim Flaking?

Bought this car, noticed the window trim paint was flaking off, I pulled a bunch of it off and it appears to be stainless steel underneath, should I just pull the rest of it off? It gets hard to pull off at the edges any recommendations?
Thanks

It's steel but, not stainless. That piece just pops off. Paint it or get a new one.

Re: Window Trim Flaking?

Go get a trim tool or wrap your smallest flathead with tape and starting at the front CAREFULLY pry the strip up. Replace any broken clips.

Does anyone know how to install this part? Old ones broke off, got new ones but don't know exactly how to install them properly.

Re: Window Trim Flaking?

Hi, to remove them get a flat head screwdriver and lift up on the trip a bit. You should see 5 clips holding it on. Just push in and it will pop out. As for the flaking what I did with mine is take a grinder or DA sander with 80 grit and smoothed it down. Then sanded with 180 grit and painted over them with gloss black. I didn't like how the gloss black looked so I scuffed them up giving the trim a more natural look. I was very pleased with the end results. I'll post a pic later.

Re: Window Trim Flaking?

I read the tips, popped off the two rear ones (strangely the front doors are OK) used the wire wheel on my bench grinder to carefully brush off the old black coating (take care not to brush the rubber edges), be patient and very careful)I sprayed two coats of primer and two coats of semi-gloss black from aerosol spray cans, and they look as good as new.
