full coilovers not worth it?
so are full coilovers not really worth the money? i'm going to be putting new suspension on the car (when i have the money and want to go into STS). i was thinking of getting B&G coilovers, but then i saw skunk2 was coming out with a full coilover setup... skunk2 is needless to say my favorite company.
but is it more effective to get koni yellows and a spring setup? would a regular spring be better or a sleeved coilover like ground controls or skunk2s?
between ground control or skunk2, which is a better sleeved coilover?
and... koni's can be valved to be stronger for auto-x right?
thanks in advance

You don't NEED full coilovers. Those of us who have them have them for various reasons. You can get away with konis and springs or Konis and GC sleeves. The main reason I got full coils was I didn't know how far I could lower it (low offset wheels), they're stiffer off the shelf and I wanted camber plates, which were only available on full coils at the time I got them (they still are for the most part). So it was a logical choice. And yes you can have konis revalved for any spring rate.

^^^ yeah, i was thinking that maybe full coilovers are setup so that the entire assembly is designed for itself, and not trying to match shocks with springs.
and boy, do the new skunk2 full coilovers look hot! i don't know what to save for first, the coilovers or rota slips!

Slips/Azenis (or MX's)
That'll make the most difference in your times.
Learn the car stock with good tires, THEN start upgrading the suspension piece by piece and go from there.
I know for me, better tires were the HARDEST thing to get used to when upgrading my car for racing. It's just totally different.

^^^ i just bought some brand new falken ziex 512's that will fit on the slips. i could always get the azenis later i guess. how do the ziex 512's compare to the azenis? are the azenis way better? these ziex's are great to me so far. awesome traction, totally different feel to handling compared to those crappy stock firestones.

I've run both, and I can say with out a doubt that the Azenis RS 215, has about 10X the amount of dry traction as the 512's. I droped about a 1 to 1.5 seconds off my ET's on course when I switched to the Azenis. Though I would prefer the 512s on the street.
It brings a tear to my eye when I swap between my race rubber and my street rubber.
I loves my Azenis....

with just street driving you could squeaze 15,000+ miles out of them...
with Autocross, a few open track events, and Daily driving.... You might get 8,000 out of them

I use one set each year for 18-20 autocrosses, averaging 40-50 Seconds per run with an average of 8 Runs per event.... I once calculated that I could destroy a set of azenis in 5 hours of racing...
