how many Autocrosseres do we have?

Just curious, who currently Runs Autocross or has done it in the past?

Info on me.
I've been autocrossing Here in Las Vegas For Little over a year, Came in 1st place STS last season (2003) and I ran at the SCCA National tour down in Phoenix for the 2004 season Opener. (placed 15th out of 17, would have done better if it kept raining). THis season I've been asked to Co-Drive an 89 Civic Si preped for STS at both local and National events (Solo 2 and Pro Solo) Should be a good season!

Edit: My current set up is......
Neuspeed FU Strut tower bar
Eibach Pro Kit springs
03 Ex Front anti-Roll bar (16mm)
RSX Rear anti-roll bar (19mm)
Rota Slipstreams in 15X6.5
Falken Azenis Sports 205/50-15
Energy suspension bushings (Front lower control arm only)

Basic Bolt on Engine parts, Hedder (DC) Intake(Hayami) Exaust(Greddy EVO)

Next part..... Koni Yellows

^impressive setup for the engine... looks like your balling for a straight line performance though right now hawk!
get some new rotors and pads... well actually pads will work great. I like my HPS pads. Get some new struts and sway bars! Body roll is the enemy!
I dont autocross myself im afriad of cones but I am going to be circut racing my baby when I get money for that turbo plus accesories.

slotted cross drilled rotors in theory disapate heat better, currect me if Im wrong zz but I dont think it is proven yet?

Yea i'm gonna get some new brake pads sooner or later, the braking is actually really good, the RSX brakes pull down the car nicely. But the body roll is a problem. i'm gonna get a rear strut tower bar and some coilovers hopefully this spring. But first is wider tires and a different set of rims.

I've done it once before, and plan on doing it again, asap, right now my car is vastly underprepared, but that will change with time.

WhiteCastle: Body Roll actually isnt the real issue. yes its good to reduce it so you get less camber change durring a turn, but its not the most important thing when tuning your suspension. What you should be adjusting is the Roll Couple (Difference in Roll resistance at the Front of the car Vs the rear) that differnece gives you the different handling chareteristics of the car. an example of this, I recently downsized my front anti-roll bar to a 16mm bar (Stock is 25.4). By doing so I have reduced the cars tendency to understeer in lower speed corners, Great for autocorss, but it does allow the front to Lean over more. No big deal, the benifit of changing the roll couple out weighs the loss of traction at the nose from camber change.

Brakes.... Slotting and Cross drilling doesnt help heat dessipation. Proper Venting of the rotor does. I allways say Avoid Dirlled rotors in performance applications, to many issues (the tire rack says this about Drilled rotors.... "drilled brake rotors are not recommended by The Tire Rack for track use or intended to be used in conjunction with race compound brake pads on the street. " Slotted rotors may acutally be good because they help reduce the chance of glazing pads under Heavy Prolonged use (Like at a track day) other wise Blanks are perfectly good. Picking the Right Pads will yeald better braking performance, and you need to pick the right one for what you do with the car. also, tires are probably the most important part of your braking system, because you can only stop as quickly as your tires will let you.

and theres no reason to be afraid of the cones... Cause if you hit one Remember that it was you who ran its punk *** down. also, Cone juice wipes off.

I have been Auto Crossing for almost two years now but not consistantly. I think I have ran in 12 events total.
I only went to 5 events last year and still came in 7th for the 03 season in Novice. This year I am running STS and my first event I came in 5th out of 6 people. Now that I have extra wheels and tires I will be on for the whole season this year.

My current setup is: 01 Civic EX (this year I am #14 STS)

SUSPENSION:
Neuspeed Front StrutBar
RSX Rear Sway along with Grey's Endlinks with Shaft Collars
Eibach Prokit Springs
SPC Camber Kit
Energy Suspension Front CA Bushings
15 x 7 Alessio wheels (DIY Painted) "they were free"
205/50/15 Falken Azenis

FUTURE SUSPENSION:
Koni Shocks (I gave up waiting for Tokico)
Cusco Rear Strut bar
03 Civic front Sway

STOPPERS:
Brembo Slotted Front Rotors
Porterfield R4S Front Brake pads

ENGINE:
AEM CAI
DC TCS Exhaust (that rattles on my rear sway)

TRANNY:
Alluminum Shifter Bushings

FUTURE TRANNY:
Short Shifter

My ****:
JIC FLT A2 Coils (503/559 lb-in springs), I actually want to get some softer springs for the front; traction issues in transistions and rough spots, the kit assumes the weight of a K20 is there, obviously there isn't one.
Neuspeed Upper Front
Cusco Upper Rear
Spoon Lower Rear
19mm RSX Rear Sway
Stock 25mm front sway
Ingalls Camber arms w/ poly bushings (pure ****, want to get J's or JIC ones if they weren't $300+)
15x6.5 Esses Speedmaster SM046 w/ 205/50/15 Kumho MX
Next order of business is the brakes. I was hoping to make it another month, doesn't look like it'll happen.
RS*R Exmag fart cannon and I'm building my own intake.

Last year was my first full season, by the end, I didn't suck too much any more. As soon as I figure the car out this spring, I hope to be in business.

Enkei 5+ w/ Khumo Ecsta Supra (Daily Driver)
Stock Steelies w/ Falken Azenis (Race Day) (BEST INVESTMENT IN THE CAR TO DATE!!)
STICKERS ON MAGNETS!!! lol j/k

Near Future...

You race in SM like that? That CF hood will put you in SM. so if you don't want to be up against turbos and swaps, i say swap your hood out for race day.

i must say, though i havent auto-xed yet, i am very pleased so far with the performance of the Si's stock brakes. the rotors on my 01 EX coupe were prone to warping and fading after just a few minutes of spirited driving. i went to a meet in White Marsh the other weekend and we were driving around on back roads for a good 3 hours.... no warpage or even FADE yet!

probably the only brake mmods ill do is maybe Hawk HP+ or Green Stuff pads...

i havent been to an auto cross event yet, but would like to get started... where should i start obtaining info on events nearest to me?

thanks

Ok, my turn.

This is my 2nd season of autox, although I only ran a few events towards the end of last year. My car is pretty lightly modded, since I'm still learning to avoid cones and not make a fool out of myself. Plus, being in college = poor, so my car fund is lacking.

I'm currently running the following setup:
- 16x7 Rota Slipstreams (steel grey)
- 205/50-16 Yokohama AVS ES100's
- Eibach Pro-Kit spring set

If I get a little cash I might throw an RSX rear sway bar in, just to try and get the back to tighten up a bit.

I wasnt aware of that... that explains why i had to run street mod a couple times... haha makes sense now.. thanks!

I notice a lot of us are using the Neuspeed upper strut bar... hmm... makes me glad i did get rid of the DC Sports bar for the Neuspeed... dont really feel much difference.. but wheel hop seems less?? maybe its just me... i dunno...

I wasnt aware of that... that explains why i had to run street mod a couple times... haha makes sense now.. thanks!

I notice a lot of us are using the Neuspeed upper strut bar... hmm... makes me glad i did get rid of the DC Sports bar for the Neuspeed... dont really feel much difference.. but wheel hop seems less?? maybe its just me... i dunno...
Yeah any CF or interior missing will count as weight reduction which automatically throws in you in SM. You don't want to be in SM without a turbo/swap or you have serious weight reduction. I know one guy over at b15sentra.net that has his whole interior gutted, as much CF as he can get, and a lighweight body kit. He only has around 100hp but he is light!

Green Civic is an unknown quantity at this point
I've solo2 a few times. I would like to start full time, but I want to get a second car to solo in. I ranked 9th out of 60 novices in h-class. I just dont have the money or time because of school.

When I did, I was bone stock. I now have:

eiback pro kit
revo ss
RH Evo 17' CPS w/ Nitto Neogen 205/40/17
K&N air filter
DC 4-1 header
DC TCS
