Honda Newb
heyyyyy.
So, I'm savannah.
A couple months ago I purchased my first Honda ever.
I usually drive trucks so this is super out of my element but she's a snappy little car and definitely was worth the money I spent on her.
She needs some TLC cosmetically but otherwise she is pretty pretty gucci.
She's a 97 and I named her sassafras the civic haha
I myself discovered the joys of a "snappy" lil 96 Civic EX going on 13 years. Hondas have a way of growing on you...especially if you truly LOVE to drive... "Honda" came to be mine in 2007. The 96 Civic Ex Vtech was labeled "unreliable" by my friends parents when the windows had issues stayin on track and the radio didn't work. The "unreliable" Ex had 107,000 miles and cost a reasonable $450 CASH!!!....("HONDA was on her way to the scrap heap, right?)
Fast-forward to 2021...Honda has been through mods, miles, mud, fences, 2rack and pinion replacements, countless front-end whoosie-whatsits, tires, Windows, mufflers and anything that could fall off at least once. Now, that may sound bad to some...but Me and "Honda" have had a HELL OF A TIME earning those scars! And today we are sittin at 346,000+ miles and we'll add more again tomorrow!
Before I go, take it from me that REGULAR, PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE and TAKING TIME TO LEARN, BE AWARE AND BE PRO-ACTIVE IN KNOWING HOW AND WHY THE PIECES AND PARTS THAT KEEP HER "SCRAPPY".....AND KEEP UP THAT MAINTENANCE!
If you take care of that Honda..I trust that Honda will take care in return.
Welcome to the club...you'll LOVE your drive time!

Re: Honda Newb
Well, if our current water pump project is ever actually successful (yes I went to Oreillys and rented the crank bolt removal tool for it) I applied heat and bought a new crank seal since I used heat and it WILL NOT break loose! Ugh. I miss driving her!
however, I bought her in October at 158xxx miles and now we are sitting at a high 161xxx. The water pump is the only issue we have experienced and I'm surprised honestly cuz she sat for almost a year before I got her. The people didn't know if she ran or not as the car had belonged to their son. I charged the battery overnight, turned that key, and she fired right up on the second try. Both the battery and tires are still under warranty, every freaking light works including the dome light, first time I've ever bought a car that every single light worked haha. The drivers side window won't stay on track but eff it. It's raining out right now anyways lol.
I plan to sand her down and redo the body and roof honda green but the hood, trunk and a 4" stripe down the left side on the roof will be lime green. I'm just waiting on the weather for that one. I have all the stuff to do it though. 2 valves stem caps were missing when I got it, so I bought new fancy metallic hot pink ones for it hahahaI just added a touchscreen bluetooth deck and a speaker/amp, but she needs back speakers as the originals were missing. I also need a new windshield. But, this car has not once refused to start for me, in fact I drove it 800 miles in one night just cruising with a friend haha. P.s on the water pump, I'm last resort settling for taking a pneumatic impact to it while I still have the special tool rented lol
The best part?
I paid $100.00 for this car guys.

Re: Honda Newb
Good score 👍
window regulator is a cheap + easy fix once you have the water pump and timing belt sorted out.
Although you might want to pop the panel off and check that a bolt hasn't fallen out
