I'm a new guy here and I'm just now finding out about all these sites. I purchased my 2000 si in 1999 right off the dealer's truck after my roommate thankfully talked me out of looking at a Ford Focus. I'm not a huge car guy, but I liked the look and feel of it when I test drove one. One dealer wouldn't even let me test drive it! Recently I've had an axle break and it's currently with my mechanic getting a new clutch after 180k miles. I'm married, have two kids and am facing the question of how much longer do I want to drive this car. It is fun to drive and part of me would love to teach my kids to drive in it (maybe 4-6 more years). My mechanic gives me grief when he tries to find parts for it, too. My wife doesn't drive a stick and our other car is a CR-V so I'm getting hit with pressure to buy an Odyssey.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

All stock 6th gen SI's are hard to find..especially a one owner. It may be worth around $5k or more if the paint/clearcoat is in good shape. If you can afford to you might want to consider keeping it along with purchasing another vehicle. Someday when the kids are grown and out of the house and your classic SI is still in your possession you'll be glad you held on to it.

The paint probably needs a bit of upkeep and I've got some dings that I may look at fixing.
My mechanic only works on Hondas, but anytime something is pricier than a regular Civic, he feels he needs to point it out.
