intro and should i get a 16 or 17 si?

Hey guys,

Will soon be the owner of a civic si. Currently driving an 07 sentra SE-R SpecV with 149k miles on it and too many problems to list, so its time to get a new ride. Before the Sentra i had a 2001 civic EX, which despite being in bad shape when i got it, was a very enjoyable car while i had it. Now, after dealing with the woes of owning a Nissan, ive decided to go back to Honda.

I've done some research on the latest generation civics and found the 2016+ civic SI to be pretty attractive. I'm wondering though if i should look for a 2016 model, or go for the newer 2017. Does anyone know of any issues that the first gen turbo on the 2016 si had that might have been fixed in the 2017 model? Are the 2016 and 2017 models identical?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Welcome to the forum. I had a SER Spec-V (03 I think) And though it was fun to drive I had frequent problems with the MAF and computer. Went back to Honda after that

IMO 16/17 are mechanically the same, but of course everyone wants to wait until the bugs are worked out of the first year models.

There wasn't SI trim in 2016 for US?

Oh man, let me tell you, i had so many issues with my SpecV... I replaced the stock exhaust manifold twice, before getting an aftermarket one. After that i had to replace front rotors twice over the course of 6 months, they kept getting warped. Then i had 3 separate exhaust leaks hit me in a period of 4 months, each time affecting the flex segment of my downpipe. I repaced the downpipe twice and am currently driving the car around with the third downpipe that also has another exhaust leak. Probably motor mounts are the cause of that issue.

Nissans just take a $h1t after 100k miles...
