New Civic owner

Bought Honda for first time. 2000 Civic LX, standard trans. 68,000k. Only oil and lube history known. No other repair info available. I have scheduled belts , tensioner, water pump replacement. Now, how often should I do this in the futher? I will be driving 1000 highway miles per week.

Did you get an owners manual with the car?

RTFM

Read the maintenance section of the manual.
It will probably say every 7 years or 60,000 miles for the timing belt.
We recommend every 30k for auto trans fluid and air filters.
If you go 7k on oil changes, rotate the tires every time too (assuming tires are of decent quality to begin with).
Coolant, inspect it. If it smells rancid, change it. We use long life (5 year/60k) coolant now, but I can't tell what is in yours from here.
Brake fluid, every 3 years is the norm.
Valve adjustment with the timing belt job. (Tight valves burn. Expensive if that happens.)
General inspection.
Make sure the radiator fan runs.
RTFM for more.

Your oil will probably be ok to go the full 7000(ish) miles if the driving is all highway, but you NEED to check the oil level daily until you can establish how rapidly it consumes oil. (Check coolant too.)
Even then, you still need to check all fluids at every gas fill up. Just get into that habit now!
I'd keep a few quarts of the right oil and a gallon of water or antifreeze mix in the trunk at all times.

That 68k may be low miles for the age of the car, but you have no idea how it was driven or cared for. Soccer mom type driving is hard on an engine.

If it uses a quart of oil every 300 miles, you will blow up that engine in under a week!
If it uses a quart every 1000 miles, that is acceptable BUT the engine will be empty at 3000 miles!

If you let it get super low of oil, it will usually increase its consumption rate from then on out.

Did you get a pre-purchase inspection before you bought it? If you did, then you should already know most of what is wrong with it and what it will need in the immediate future. Brakes, leaks, and whatnot.

Oil leaks? Rubber seals get hardened up by this age. Normal, maintenance to replace the various rubber gaskets and seals.

Go to the Honda website, into owner services, and get registered as the new owner of the car. Check for any recalls that have not been completed, get them done ASAP at any dealer.
