New here

Hi All,

I thought I'd introduce myself first before I go asking loads of questions...

I work in IT during the day and also run a mobile disco business (Yep, I'm a cheesy wedding DJ - Abba anyone? lol) and also just starting a photography business that hopefully one day will become my main job (a while off yet though).

Anyway: question:

I currently own a 2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso (yeah,, yeah I know, crappy French car lol) and it's on it's last legs so to speak (126k, petrol). MOT is due beginning of May and it's gonna need welding (possibly new sill), at least one wheel bearing, starter motor and god knows what else. Will cost more than the car is worth.

I was thinking of just scrapping it and have been looking at Civic's for a while now. I do around 60 mile per day round trip to work and back and also rack up a few miles at weekends when I go out doing my mobile disco business so need a low mileage car really.

I've got around %u00A37,500 to spend and looking at low mileage Civic's (preferably less that 40k) and have seen some 07 - 57's on autotrader for about that price.

I would like to know if there is anything I should be looking out for on a 6 year old Civic, do they have any quirky habits / problems I should watch out for? Obviously a decent test drive will be had.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to soon becoming a Civic owner and reading and asking all sorts on here (looks to be one of the best forums so far)

Justin

[edit] forgot to say, I will be going for the 2.2 Diesel 5 door version.

The 8th gen civics are reliable, some have had tranny issues, but not to many that i know. If they are for that price and low mileage it sounds like a good deal, as always have the car looked at before buying, and inspect the framing, look in the trunk under the spare time and make sure its not damaged(bent).

Re: New here

Well, finally went and picked up my new Civic on Saturday from Sheffield (50 miles from me).

It's absolutely stunning, to say it's a 2007 model (Gen 8 I think) there isn't a mark on it both inside and out it's like a brand new car. I suppose with only 35k on the clock I was expecting good condition but was blown away when I actually saw it.

Performance is good too (both acceleration speed and economy) with the 2.2 turbo diesel engine - it's also a 5 door which I wanted - oh, and it's black - my favorite colour lol.

After test drive and close inspection, I took the plunge and bought it (now £8,000 lighter lol).
Had a lovely drive home but was having to keep my eye on the speed as it's so easy to 'creep' above the limit.

I am so please with this car and look forward to every time I drive it - definitely the best car I have ever owned...
