Just got a Civic
Just got a Civic
Whats up, from San Diego, CA, recently acquired a 1996 Civic DX through trade for my non-op firebird. I took a really big loss trading the firebird in such a great condition minus the BHG.
Anyway, this Civic was obviously some idiot teens abandoned project and being that it ran excellent, minus the cut map sensor plug and vacuum leak, I had no choice but to grab hold of it.
My daily driver is a Harley Sportster Forty Eight, I am slowly turning into a cafe but the rainy season is around the corner, which will render my bike a death trap which is why I jumped on this Civic
Back on subject, this car has 3 different shade of black, stock with nice flakes, primer, and spray paint. The bumper is held up by these huge hinges, which the PO decided drill through the fenders to put in. I spent the whole day today peeling off carbon fiber tape, scraping off spray painted tail lights, spray painted windshield sun visor type jump, ripping out switches and gauges that werent even wired up. Attempting to realigning body parts, and sourcing OEM parts.
Car has 3 spray painted Rotas(?) and 1 stock rim, a nice sunshade on the rear (too bad it was glued on in a crappy fashion), a huge ebay muffler at the end of a secondary flowmaster, up to some aftermarket headers. A shitty short ram pipe with a spectre. Autozone steering wheel hub and shifter, and the infamous vice grip window roller downer thing. Key only opens driver lock. Oh, and this big *** tach mounted next to the window that does nothing but vibrate and vibrate and vibrate. The whole dash vibrates, cant have anything in the glove, Timing is at like 400 which im sure is ridiculously low.
The good: nice stiff coilovers, tokico blues, runs like a champ minus the vacuum leak, registered till august 2013. I can get to work in the rain.
My plans? Stock as hell, air box, stock pipes, keeping the coilovers, fixing the vacuum and map, major tune up, power doors, windows, locks, mirrors, all that good stuff, extreme body work followed by a gun metal paint job (WAYYYYYY down the line though). I need this car to last, and I need it to stop disappointing me everytime I look in its direction. Keeping the Rotas, gonna source an extra one, and gonna powder coat the spokes gold.
Anyway, I have a couple pics of the work I put in today bt none of the car at the moment, once the light shines in the AM Ill have some pics to show.
Anyway, I am actually a little more content then this post displays, I am really happy to have 4 wheels when I dont feel like taking my motorcycle to work, I am just upset that it was at the cost of my wonderful firebird. I've owned 2 supra MKIII's, a 91 camaro 350 cam'd, 97 granny firebird (but the cleanest car I've ever owned, and a few crappy cars in my teen years. I am great with my hands, swap a few engines, auto->stick conversions, fixed a few head gaskets, done a few mods, wired a few things, broke a few things, fixed a few things.
