Howdy from MN
Just picked up a manual transmission '02 civic with 264k miles for 2 grand yesterday. Will need 2nd timing belt change real soon. Other than that I love the car's MPG and the fact that it has never been riced out. My plan is to make it as reliable as possible and bring the car mileage to at least to 300k miles.
previously, I owned 88 supra, 89 MR-2 and 01 Lexus IS300. The Civic is definitely slower than my prev cars, but really appreciate the high MPG (and hopefully the reliability).
Considering my high mileage, I think I'll need a lot of help from this forum. for now I'll search for timing belt change

Welcome.
With that many miles, I would replace the tensioner pulley for the timing belt while it is apart, along with the water pump. Cheap insurance.

Thanks for the greetings and advises. This will be my first timing belt change, and it seems like the civic has simplest configuration i've seen with ample space. I bought a kit with water pump, belts and valve cover gasket. Now that you mentioned it, I should add the tensioner pulley too
