Greetings,
I'm an older guy who likes cars, specially the sound of a deep exhaust.
We just ordered and will take possession of a new 2012 Civic exl in December or January. I've been a member of a car forum before and found it very enlightening and enjoyable. Lots of great advice (asked for or not) and usually reliable information.
Not looking to do any mods, as this will be a daily driver for my Wife and Daughters.
We'll get it clay bared, waxed and put a clear bra on it as soon as possible after we get it.

My feeling is that the detailing done by a dealer is kinda a wash and wax (maybe, depends what they can get away with). They certainly won't clay the whole car. I am leasing this and will buy it out at the end because the lease rate of under 2% is better than I can get a car loan for. So I want to do it right from the get go. I'll also get it rustproofed by Krown asap. Haven't decided if I'll detail first and rust second or the other way around.

Welcome,
And yes, the car dealerships do a crappy job detailing (especially non luxury cars)
And they usually machine wash, which scratches your car like no other
A full clay would not hurt
But I'd bang on a coat of NXT Gen wax right when I get a new car

Yet, they sit on the lot for months on end gathering dust and dirt
And when someone finally buys that particular one, they throw it in the machine washer, minor buff, slap on a 5 min wax job and dress up the tires for ya
Complete detail in about 30 mins
My dad's worked for Honda for about 16 years :3

Unless it's got under 10 miles on it, it aint brand new :P
TBH, if i walked into a dealership right now and bought a brand new car today,
I'd tell em to give it to me as is, no dress up, no wax, no clean.
Then go home and bust out the buckets, then do a complete oil and filter change
