New to the forum
Hello all,
The name's Graham. I am new to these parts, but not to Civics.
Here are some examples of some that I've owned(sorted by model year):
1988 Civic Wagon (manual, yeah baby)
1997 Civic EX Coupe (manual)
1999 Civic EX Coupe (manual)
1999 Civic Si (manual of course)
1999 Civic Si (manual of course)
2000 Civic EX Coupe (manual)
I've owned quite a few other cars from other brands as well, but that's a story for another day (as I've had about 20 cars in the last 10 years, rather embarrassing).
Anyway, now it's on to my latest project, a 2001 Civic EX Coupe (*sigh* automatic) that my wife gave to me after I bought her a new car. It's in pretty good shape, the paint is glossy (which is a miracle for a red car in Phoenix, our summers are notoriously harsh on cars, especially the red variety), and she's taken very good care of it since she bought it new. Unfortunately it seems to be a bit of a parking lot damage magnet, no matter how far away she tried to park, some idiot would find a way to back into it. You can see from the pic below we have a nice souvenir from some truck with a tow hitch almost perfectly dead center in the front bumper.
The car is 98% stock, with just a DC Sports short ram intake, Motegi MR12 17's, and a Pioneer deck.
But now the fun begins.
Plans include buying a totalled RSX-S and swapping over everything i possibly can; from engine/trans, to suspension (yes, it desperately needs to be lowered lol) and full interior. I'm even contemplating doing the 05-06 RSX front end conversion (stock, no ridiculous body kit), but I'm not 100% on that. For those who say "why not just buy an RSX?", I say, why spend that kind of money when I can build my own for a few grand, plus have all the fun in the process?
I look forward to learning from the collective, and sharing my trials and tribulations with you all.
Cheers!
Graham
p.s. sorry for the crappy pics. Poor lighting and a droid camera do not make a good combo...

Welcome to the site
Buying a totalled RSX is definitely the way to go, you get all the parts you'll need to do the engine swap except for the mounts. The interior conversion takes a bit of work, the rear seats, door panels and dash need all need slight modification to get them to fit, and the gauge cluster needs to be re-pinned but you can find information on how to do all that on the site. As far as an RSX front end conversion, I don't think that's ever been done to an em2, even the EL front has only been done a few times, so that would definitely be innovative.

I've tried to put as much thought into this as I can, especially considering the goal of creating the ultimate daily driver/weekend canyon carver. I'm also planning (hoping) on doing most of, if not all, the work myself.
Re: New to the forum
you can get body kits and spoilers for any year civic. so just find one she likes thats been well maintained.

I tell ya, it's funny how sudden and radically plans can change...
Came across a deal on a car that I just couldn't pass up, and am now the proud owner of this beautiful machine:

So as you can imagine, the plans to mod the civic have pretty much come to an end, in fact it may even be for sale in the very near future...
