New here

Yesterday I looked at new cars and laughed at many dealers walking away. I went to Honda with the Intent of getting a Honda SI Sedan but due to the lack and availability that was out. I looked at the 2011's but they had ugly colors and I needed a car to drive home. Looking for a 5spd proved hard enough as not many where around and just graduating from an Automotive school and going through transmission classes I knew the auto now days is more economical favored as to the 5 spd because of all the computers and such but I also knew from my high school life of drag racing and dipping into the 9's with my 70 RS/SS Camaro and auto can run the strip faster if built right. So I ended up with a 2010 Black Civic LX-SP Sedan auto. After test driving it and an EX having a coupe with this interior I fell in love plus they wanted this car gone so it was all in my for for my first Honda.

Now the near list plans for it are 17-18" black chrome wheels, tinted windows, and a performance drop, Looking at exhaust which will probably be a magnaflow and at cold air intakes today. Now the guy at the dealer I think is full of **** but I will ask here. The SI uses the DOHC 2.0, can this head be switched to the 1.8 block and is the blocks only difference the slight displacements? This is my commuter but what fun is a stock car right? If I can't get the auto tuned to my likings I will swap but for now I will try. How much of the SI stuff is compatible with my car? I have read a few forums but doesn't appear to be as much on them for the newer 8th gens. Anyway here is what I bought:

Re: New here

Welcome to the forum. And no the SI head will not fit on your block because they are 2 different type motors. The SI has the k20z3 which is a 2.0 dohc ivtec motor. Yours is a r18a1. Only k series parts are compatible with other k series parts. Body parts/suspension from the SI will work with your car but you cannot put the k20 parts on your r18. Now you can swap the k20z3 in your car to make the performance alot better. The SI also has a 6 speed lsd transmission so really the auto is still not as economical than the si 6 speed.

Now for performance parts the magnoflow exhaust are good exhaust systems and soem of them are alot cheaper than the other name brands they have like apexi, hks, greddy and what not. So either of these are good choices. For cold air intakes the best are either injen or aem.

Re: New here

I found that out after searching a few sites on the engines. Appears a swap is just as spendy as well hum. Might just have to buy me another car to play with lol. On exhaust I want it to sound good and not annoying like all the ones running around here.

Re: New here

If you want a real quite exhaust then you would want the apexi noir or apexi ws2.

Thanks for the help. Not so much quite just not like a pissed off crappy bumble bee which is why I looked at magnaflow since they tend to sound good.

Re: New here

I know what your saying, I dont like that sound either and ya magnaflow usually has good sounding exhaust. Those apexi's that I was talking about are really deep sounding and are quite till you try to get on it and then it opens up and sounds really good.
