Hello all

Hi I'm Jon from Rochester, NY. About a month ago I bought a 99 Civic Si and I got to say, for my first car it's awesome. I'm worried about living in NY and driving my Civic through the winter so if anyone has tips on how to keep it clean and protect it from rust it would be much appreciated.

I plan on redoing the interior sometime soon. Either some street buckets and 4 points or reupholstering the seats in black and blue pleather.

So far this forums has helped me in several places so thank you very much!

Re: Hello all

I love that generation and style of civic. To prevent it from rusting get it oil sprayed every year before the winter starts, and if you want to go the extra mile get one of those electronic rust stoppers. Wash down the engine compartment regularly (properly, of course). Keep your rims clean so they don't corrode and wash the car once or twice a week. Especially in the winter.

Re: Hello all

Thanks a ton man. Do those "anti-rust" electric things really work? Also, do you know the best way to prevent the "Honda rot" in the rear wheel well?

Re: Hello all

Those b16a2 motors are stout though. They can be put through alot. I had a red one with a couple things done to it. But when I got it I was like damn, I forgot how vtec really was cause I had my ep3 and it has that i-vtece. Wish I still had her though. Valve took a dump on me pretty bad.

Re: Hello all

Haha ya it's great. Once you hit 5500 it just takes off and with the close ratio gearbox I can stay within the 6k range all the way through 5th.

Re: Hello all

Yeah I want to do forced induction to increase my acceleration before Vtec kicks in, but it's all about the money haha.
