new civic owner
Hi y'all!
I just purchased my first Civic. I needed something that would get better gas mileage than my ol' pickup and was going to pick up a beater just to get to and from work. Then I saw an ad for a '92 Civic with a blown head gasket. It was cheap enough that I am sure I can put less money into the car than it's worth, so I bought it and hauled it home yesterday.
I don't really know squat about these cars, so I've been reading and searching for stuff on them. I found one thread, for example, that shows how to replace the timing belt. Then last night while taking stuff apart, I realized that the thread was apparently for a different generation. But I'm sure there's plenty of applicable info here.
The car is a '92 Civic LX 4-door. It has the 16V 1.5L. It also has an auto (boo hoo!), but I can live with that, at least for awhile. (It probably isn't worth the effort, but how difficult is it to swap in a manual?) Anyway, I don't know how long I'll have this car, but I've heard nothing but good things from other Honda owners, and now I'm one, so I guess we'll see.
Looking forward to learning more about this car.

Re: new civic owner
yeah they are pretty easy to work on, you should be able to get it up and running. just do all the usual mods to it like change filters and fluids. seems like the old owner beat up on it alot.
