New from Louisville, Ky
Hi there, my names Aaron. I'm 17 and will be purchasing a civic when I turn 18. I'm actually here because I have a few questions. Although I'm sure you all get asked this plenty.
Here it goes.
My knowledge is very limited on cars. I was always interested in them. I asked my father to teach me the basics. He had serious heart problems though and couldn't really work on cars anymore.
I would like to be able to maintain my car on my own and progressively add performance parts to it. But where do I start to learn? Should I get the car and practice or should I just read?
My dad passed away last September and I'll be getting a little insurance money. I'm already planning on buying a civic or two(one to drive and one to work on). So, would it be best to just buy the part that I want and figure it out on my own? Or whats the best way to approach this?
Does anyone have any guides that would help me along the way?
Thanks

this site has a ton of info, i think most of us started off just like you with no knowledge about anything. i think your best friend is gonna be the huge honda service manual (green cover) from handaaccessories.com that tells you all the tightening specs, how stuff comes apart, and how it gets put back together. otherwise search around this site, there is all sorts of topics since 2001.
