well... i donno if this is the best place to post it... i guess it's one of a kind post... but i have just survived a 140km/h crash with my buddy... it was a rainy 3 am moring when me and my buddy getting back from the kareoke place in vancouver... i was doing 160 at a bridge on the way home... the road condition was just wet... but i guess it was late and i wanna get home "fast"... it was just too fast for my non-abs and firestone... as i was going to get off the bridge as usual... i steped on the brake... the car wants to slide, so i ease off on the breaks but the exit ramp was coming to me so fast that i just got freaked out and locked my wheels... and next thing i notice i was flying, and ram off all the road signs in my path... and landed safely on the grass island... WTF safely? yes there was a big flat grass field... me and my buddy couldn't register what just happened... and we both screamed like btches... after that we got off the car check the damages... and you know what? other than scratched and puchured bumper the car is hardly damaged, it was still driveable!!!!! man am i lucky or what?!!

Today i learned a lesson. that is NEVER BUY A CAR WITH OUT ABS+GOOD BREAKS AND GOOD SET OF TIRES!!! oh maybe you wanna get some high speed driving menuver skills while your at it!

160 Km/hr.... that's close to 100mph... that's way to fast on a wet road. You're luck you didn't hit a anything, otherwise you would have easily flipped

I'm not even sure ABS would have saved you.... ABS still takes 1/10 of second to kick in, and at that speed, you may have already lost traction.

yes... if i had been a little to the left i would hit this giant light pole, or actually force to turn... that will make me lose control, flip the car... oh i can't imagine how much it would suck if either happens...

For performance, yes I agree ABS can hinder, but I call on anybody who says they can control they're car on icy roads better with out ABS.

Really? Is that for older ABS systems that used to rotate the pulse from tire to tire or the newer systems that pulse all the tires the same?

Clear black ice rare around here, most of the tire it is a slush with spots of ice under it. But mostly a 2-3 inches of slush that build up on the roads, then your tires can't grip.

i bet you Takumi Fujiwara woulda just drifted through that off ramp... anyways, abs proabably wouldnt have made a difference. you might have been hydroplanning already since it was wet.

I drifted on an off ramp once for about 20 ft in a civic. It was pure luck though and I had to throw my boxers away after that.

hey man i wasnt really tryin to be an *** and i hope it didnt come off that way. But i get really pissed off when people do dumb **** on the road, save it for the track. Hopefully you've learned your lesson and wont have to end up killing someone to learn. The only reason i get pissed is because im worried about my family and when you do stuff like that, you put everyone on the road at risk. I know it sounds all Drivers ed and **** but its really true. Just save it for the track.

I cant believe nobody said anything sooner. That was a stupid thing to do. It isnt that hard to slide 20 ft in a civic. Get on the onramp at 70 (if you know how to drive WELL), than tell me how many feet you slide. I just raced a miata onto the onramp like 45 minutes ago. I didnt go anywhere out of my lane, than I look over, and they are halfway into mine, Im like, WTF??? I thought they were gonna hit me. I was almost redlining 2nd gear, as they slowed down on the turn. Needless to say, the miata couldnt keep up AT ALL. they instigated the race as well, stupid people. haha I love when my chrome outhandles/beats other people.
