Plug n Play HID kit issues
I have a could questions for you plug n play kit users.. I have the Techone 9006 5000k kit from Mod-express..
1) In Canada (Ontario) is it illegal to drive with these plug and play kits? I mean, I've been flashed twice now and I assume it's frmo the glare, but I already lowered my headlights down. If I get stopped for it, what is the fine/penalty if any?
2) Once in a while the bulbs flicker when I'm driving.. I checked the wiring, it's fine. I yanked on the connections, nothing happens.. it's just random. I first noticed it when I was aiming my headlights up and down, that it would flicker yellowish and back to HID white again.. like a quick flicker, barely noticable... what is this?? Any suggestions?

i believe hid kits are only illegal in the USA. do you have any glare shield covering part of the bulb? are you sure they are aimed low enough? if so then its prolly just glare. reflectors werent made for hid bulb so thats why it looks bright to other driver.
im not sure on the flicker, my audi retro does it too and i suspect its the weak charging system. alternator doesnt put out enough juice so stuff causes them to dim esp when the fans turn on or ac. i dont think theres much you can do, i have an upgrade harness and grounds and still does it.

I'm not sure what the shield is.. can you post a pic? Is it that black rubbery looking thing that runs the length of the bulb, outside the bulb? If so, it's on the bottom of the bulb when installed in the car (bulbs only install one way)...
I suspect the alternator for the flickering

Another question I have, is you see in this picture on the passenger side, near the middle, there is a line coming upwards.. I'd like to get rid of this, it's annoying.. any suggestions how? I can put my finger over the headlight outside the car and actually find the spot where it's coming from, but it's not like I can just put black marker on my lights :P Does the glare shield play any part in removing this little 'beak'?

Yes they are DEFINATELY low.. measurement from ground to my center of bulb is approx. 24.5 -> 25 inches. 25 feet from the wall it's at 21-22 inches at the max highest point of light output, not to center of the spot.
Here's what the bulb looked like (sort of, it was a straight plug in, not the elbow L shape).. so no I did not receive a GLARE SHIELD.... ????

/edit: confirmed, no glare shield as H4 only have glare shield.. I have 9006

nope there is no shield on the bulb. i dont have any pics, but it is literally a cover that goes around the whole bottom half of the bulb. that would cut down alot on the glare and people wont flash you after that prolly. im not sure where you can get just the shield.
here are some, theyre a bit pricey at $50 for a pair, but it should work.

oh hmm someone made their own from a sprite can or something, kinda weird but maybe, the main reason is to get rid of the light shining from the bottom of the bulb onto the lower reflector which then causes the glare. painting the bottom reflector piece a dull color would help, but again it might look funny.
