has anyone tried to buy an altezza taillights and take off the clear plastic cover and have the backing painted to a custom color or car color matching?

yea actually its been done. depends on the taillight tho, cause some of them like stock dont have sealant, just the plastic is melted together and impossible to open without breaking.

I got tyc for my sedan and thought of this too!! I going to do it the color of my car around the lenses. As soon as it stops raining;lol

I haven't painted them, but yeah I took off the lens on my alteeza's. I like it a whole lot more, but problem now is since they were chrome they're starting to tarnish. But yeah they look a whole lot nicer and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.

sweet bro....what type of taillights did u get? and how much did they cost? and where did you get them?

i did it with mine...taillights were made by Sonar...painted the inner housings gloss black with a couple coats of clear and resealed it with clear tub and tile silicone. Looks 10x better imo
