Wigwag lighting

What's up y'all... I've got a show car and one thing that I've wanted to do is to get the wigwag(police) style flashing lights. Now I know this can be accomplished using strobes, but I don't want strobes, I want it to be as authentic as possible using a cross between low and high beam flashing. I have seen the systems online for fairly cheap, but I wanted to try my hand at electronics and really use my soldering needle. Does anyone have a DIY for this? If not I guess I'm gonna be buyin the set. I want it to flash both headlights and tails in an alternating patern, pretty much L-L-R-R-L-L or at least in that style. I searched but came up with no results...

Much thanx in advance.
