if you buy mcculloch, you've bought into their system. you cannot use OEM bulbs with a mcculloch kit. as far as what color you should get, you should stick to OE spec - 4100-4300k.

are they a good brand to go with? im not looking to replace the bulbs with OEM, Im just saying if I have a MCculloch kit and I would decide to use Ignited or Philips HID bulbs in there would it be possible?
Pretty much all of the bulbs that comes with a kit is rebased and you are pretty much stuck with that type of bulbs, which turns out to be very @#$% bulbs.
To gain the advantage of HID you should do a retrofit and use OEM Philips/Osram bulbs, not kits...

Bingo!
HID bulbs run on 2 wires; a positive and a negative.
If you can clip, strip, and solder you can make almost any bulb/ballast work together.
