HID Daytime Running Light Fuse Question
Ok so I just installed my HID's ... and they look sick.
Now from what I understand, you have to disable the DRL's or else it messes up the ballast.
Ok so under the steering wheel there is the fuse box. It has 2 fuses for the Day Lights (which I am guessing is the DRL's).
Fuse 1 = 7.5A, and is located at the second position on the top row of fuses(from left to right)
Fuse 2 = 10A, and is located at the third position on the bottom row of fuses (from left to right).
Now my question is what do each of these Fuses actually do ?
I didn't know so I just removed them both. I want to be sure but these are the right two fuses, right ???
Anyways hope someone can help me out.

well if they are, the drl shouldn't come on anymore right? And if you have an 04-05, the drl hibeam is a separate bulb and does not matter for the hid. if you have 01-03 then yes you must disable it.

well what does any fuse do. protects the circuit from power surge. not sure why there are two, mine just has one fuse on the ignition power wire. i guess its a different setup on those stock since it uses hi beams.

K wait a min ... what fuse are you talking about on the ignition power wire ? Is that for your Daytime Running Lights ? My car is a 2002.
Forget the fact that I have TYC's ... lets say I had stock headlights ... how would I disable the DRL's ?
All I see is 2 fuses that say under the steering wheel Day Light ? But none say Daytime Running Light. Now I'm wondering if they are disabled. Funny thing is no light does come on ... but the DRL warning light in my dash, doesn't light up (shouldn't it if there was no fuse - wouldnt it be detecting a problem ?)

ya its for mine. i would think most systems would only have one cause there is only one power wire. okay i'm too confused. lemme check the elec manual hold on
okay i am showing two fuses going directly to the drl control module. fuse 3 (10A) and fuse 12 (7.5A). there is a separate fuse for the drl indicator light in the dash. I assume this light comes on when the drl is active? if so, then removing the first two fuse to deactivate it should leave the light off.

Yeah, thx man for the help .. thats exactly the 2 fuses I pulled out.
I think it must be the right ones, what was throwing me off was the back side of the panel said DAY LIGHT (whatever the hell that was supposed to mean) and there was no DRL or DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT label.
Anyways I just looked in the owners manual, and those exact positions (12 and 3) say Daytime Running Light. So the manual is definately right.
Nameless, says that both of those fuses will disable the DRL's, but that one still allows the DRL dash light to be on (which I'd hate). So luckily I just took both out.
At least on the CDN models the DRL light on the cluster only comes on when a) you have your parking break on and start the car or b) there is a problem with your DRL system. When the DRL's are working fine the light in the cluster turns off/stays off.
I guess what was throwing me off, was this talk of some other fuse behind the glove box - like I was wondering then if I actually did disable them if there was another fuse somewhere.
*************
Side note
Since about 1 month before I was getting the HID's installed (cause it was too cold up here) one of my headlights blew out. So what ended up happening was that I had some spare Sylvania Silverstars, what I had in my car was some no name bright blue ones (yes yes I'm not a ricer - anyways). Since I was lazy I only changed the burnt out bulb.
The S Star's only drew 55W and projected at whatever they say. The other no name bulb was drawing probably more (cause it was way brighter). There was no problem when I had my lights turn fully on
BUT
when I was just running during the day, when the DRL's are on - the S Star DRL was really bright and the no name bulb was really dim. This caused my DRL light on my dash to flicker on and off (it didnt happen all the time but every one and a while it would flicker and sometimes stay on). Then when I turned on my low beams, the opposite happened (my no name was really bright and my S Star was dimmer - BUT no DRL console light came on)
I kept it like that and in that month to month and a half I burnt out both Silver Stars.
I ended up having to replace the 2nd burnt out S Star with some other no name that I had lying around from my old Accord (and it was one that drew 80W and projected at 120W). Those two bulbs I guess matched in how much wattage it was drawing. No DRL warning light flicker, and they didnt blow out.
Weird eh...

ya its the way the drl is connected i bet. with drl on your car, the hi beams operate in series rather than parallel (meaning each one gets 1/2 the normal wattage or 6v each for a total of 12-14v whatever). Since the bulbs were different wattage, it was getting confused because the rice bulb was drawing more current.
