OEM Style Fogs 02 Coupe Install Trouble
I ordered a set of OEM style fogs off ebay for my 2002 coupe. I received them and the wiring harnesses look completely different than what is described in the OEM install instructions. Anybody have this problem?
I don't seem to have a plug on the switch harness to plug the switch in. Also, the OEM install instructions mention that I use the extra plug under the right front headlight housing rather than the subharness that is used on the sedan install. Is this correct?
I was thinking of just ordering the correct harnesses from Majestic Honda. I e-mailed them and they gave me some part #'s, but I searched their site and can't find the parts. Suggestions anyone?

Ok, here's the wiring harness:

Part 1 of the harness is what goes into the fuse box:

Part 2 of the harness I have no idea where it goes, or if it's even necessary. It's down by where the harness goes through the firewall I believe:

I am a little confused as to how the switch harness gets plugged into the fuse box. There are two slots where the 4 pin connector can go, in slot 1 or slot 2. The 4 pin connector has a single red wire on the far left pin, but when you look in slot 1 in the fuse box, it only has connectors on the 3 pins starting at the right (the far left pin is empty). Also, I needed confirmation that the 1-pin connector goes into slot 3.

I also am really confused as to how to wire the harness. The OEM instructions describe wiring it through the passenger side firewall, but I really don't think the harness is long enough to reach. Judging by the length, it looks like it's to be run along the driver side, and the switch looks like it's supposed to go where the cruise control/mirror/sunroof goes. If that's the case, can someone describe how to run it along the driver side? Can I just extend the switch to reach the center console?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I extended the wiring that goes through the passenger side firewall. You do know where it's located, correct? Well, the rubber grommet present on the 3rd picture is what goes through the passenger firewall. I extended the part that protrudes into the cabin about 2.5 feet. That way I could mount the button in the cigarette lighter area and the plug that goes into the fuse box area can reach properly.

well if pple say u have the wrong harness u really can't do anything about it. U can either cut the wire and hook it up to some other power source or email that ebay seller ask the seller for the correct harness. I would go ahead and email the seller.
im not the one that posted the pictures.. although i do have the same harness i connected part 1 to the fuse box (both wires fit there) and I am asking where part 2 (from the pictures) goes connected!
Hello,
Sorry to hijack the thread! Do you or Turtle possibly have the link to the auctions you won, or the seller's name/ID? there's like 3 or 4 diff. people selling versions of the OEM Style fogs.. Did it come with a switch too? Thanks in advance.

I bought mine here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT
I gave up on the install with their harness because the switch I got was bad and I was convinced that the harness wasn't correct. What I'm trying to figure out now is how to get power to the foglights from a source other than the fusebox. I have a working switch hooked up so that I can turn them on and off independent of the headlights, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to power them. I also got part numbers from someone at majestic honda (www.hondaautomotiveparts.com) when i asked for info on the OEM foglight wiring, but the parts don't show up on their website and I haven't been able to call them yet since their only open 9-4EST. Here's the part number info:
FOGLIGHT WIRING 08V31-S5A-A0031 $20
SWITCH HARNESS 08V31-S5D-10032 $9
I was thinking of running power directly from the battery, and using the switch to send the power back to the foglights, but that seems like a lot of wiring work. Could I just tap into, say, the cigarette lighter for power? Anybody know what the amp rating on the foglights are? The cigarette lighter fuse is only 15A, so I don't want to tap into that if it's just gonna blow all the time.
Also, if I hook up directly from the battery, where in the wiring should I put an inline fuse? From the battery to the switch? Or from the switch to the foglights?

part 2 is what was called the bus wire in my instructions. it connects the foglight harness to the switch harness. You run it from the firewall to the front fender behind the rubber splash gaurd in the tire well. The gromet is where it goes through the firewall.
Take that black cap off that plug. In mine I had to unplug a green connector and plug it into that black connector. and plug my connector where the green connector plugged in.
I don't know how close to my kit yours is so don't flame me if I'm totaly off base.

i don't see why the OEM harness and switch wouldn't work. it would have the correct components, correct plugs, and the correct switch. There could be a problem fitting the OEM switch harness to the foglight harness, but it's only running power to the foglights, so you could splice them together easily.

I ordered the OEM switch and what I thought was the switch harness from San Leandro Honda (www.slhondaparts.com), but the switch harnes was wrong, it was merely the sub-harness to connect the foglight harness to the switch harness. I had talked to one of the people at San Leandro Honda, and there are only two harnesses available, one called the "Switch, Harness Foglight" (which I ordered, and was the sub-harness), and "Wire Harness, Foglight", which I was told was the actual foglight plugs and ground. So it looks like maybe the switch harness isn't available on it's own?
I temporarily tapped mine into the parking lights; nothing has blown yet and at least I know they work. I'm going to eventually wire them directly from the battery to, hopefully, the OEM switch I bought. I just have to figure out the pin configuration on the switch.
