what's "a no-cost solution to the customer"?
so we just ship the kit back to them to for free and lose the money that we used to buy the kit? kinda weird...

I most likely would go to you if I did seeing as I noticed you do that in the first place. I was just curious if you made them for H1 projectors. Also check out my other two posts in this forum cause I could use some advice.

Then it's Illegal. No matter if they are aimed correctly. If your car didn't come out of the factory equipped with HID's then it's illegal.

As far as I know, they came with the car
Either way, my kit has already been approved by the DOT. They're not coming off unless I get a check for the full retail value.

[/QUOTE]Just because they're DOT approved doesn't mean that it's legal in your ride. More important than whether or not an igniter is legal for the road is the aiming requirements set forth by the National Trans. & Safety dept. I don't think anyone has ever gotten a ticket for having aftermarket HIDs anyways, so I don't know why we're focusing on this anyway. The point of the thread is that the SALE of aftermarket HIDs is becoming illegal.

Good point. I thought sales were illegal already? Or are they just going around making sure companies aren't still selling. But then you could just say you bought em in Canada and it would be legal.

Sales have been illegal for a while. The gov't is just cracking down on those certain stores and shops that still sell the kits. I know a local shop of mine is still selling them and installing them on cars, and they will continue to do so until they are told to stop by the gov't.

Well understand that this is also in reference to Aftermarket kits. No government will ever go to junk yards and tell them that they can't sell the OEM setups out of factory cars. The point in making the sale illegal is that the average guy plugging in a 9006 Plug and Play kit, has no concern that his lights will conform to regulations and keep from blinding oncoming traffic. I speak from experience that people flash me.. a lot. (Too bad the girls don't do it) My lights are VERY bright. I still light up street signs from a half mile away. I can be in full traffic and turn my lights off from thousands off feet away and see over pass signs dim. No factory lights do that. First off they're aimed way too high, and for beam pattern, I drive under over passes and I can see that they light up the overpass. My lights are shining straight up! All I did was modify a Ds2 bulb to fit in the housing. No projector, no cutoff lines. Just the most basic plug in way and my lights are everywhere. There IS good reason for them to be concerned about us installing these lights. We don't conform to a single rule. However, they look cool and until they tell me to take em out, I'll just let people flash me.

My lights came with the car...
Every night I drive by the towns police station and even hang out/talk with some of the cops, she all still believe they can get my headlights from Honda.
When they saw my fogs... Well, They know its a kit but, They dont really care.
If my lights were a peircing blue or purple color, I know id get pulled over.
