Rep Power: 0 ticket for "loud exhaust"?!
the night before thanksgiving, i drive home from the gym and guess who i see on the right at the intersection.. a popo. so drivin cautiously i make my left turn and proceed to go home. i see his *** speed up to me when his light turns green and the next thing i know im blooped on. He tells me that he pulled me over for having a "loud exhaust". I mean i was going 35mph and i have a automatic so it wasnt like i was mashing in low gears. then he looks under my hood for like 10 mins and says that my car is illegally modified. I show him my smog check from the state referee to prove my car is legally modified and i have the carb number for all modifications. He gives me the ticket anyways, like the *** he is. Anyways my question is that can i still be ticketed for having the loud exhaust even though it had a carb number?

Rep Power: 379 go to sema and get a location where you can get ur db recorded.
do you have a intake? or what is under ur hood?
because they can't do anything if you have ur stock cat. and stock intake... and stock header

Rep Power: 0 Get a record of the DB. and FIGHT THAT in court. You will win if you tell the judge technical information that proves you innocent. You will always win, that's how I do it.

Rep Power: 0 Hey I got a ticket last friday for the samething and I am trying to research the laws right now. I found out for motorcycles they have laws about exhaust noise that have to be enforced by an officer taking a DB reading while the motorcycle is running at certain RPM's. The officer must also be standing 20 ft away from the tailpipe. I am yet to find the exact law for cars yet but I will and when I do screw all those cops that harass drivers.

Rep Power: 0 This is what I have found so far
31. Mufflers and exhaust systems. Prevention of noise. Every motor
vehicle, operated or driven upon the highways of the state, shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler and exhaust system in
constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or
unusual noise and no such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped
with a cut-out, bypass, or similar device. No person shall modify the
muffler or exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will
amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor or exhaust system of
such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler or exhaust system
originally installed on the vehicle and such original muffler and
exhaust system shall comply with all the requirements of this section.
A muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle
plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust
gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise.
An exhaust system is a series of mechanical devices for the purpose of
receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and expelling
it into the atmosphere.
