Will this work?

So my situation is that I have a CA emission vehicle and replacing the cat cost more than the car itself. I just moved and need to get it registered, I called the dealership for a replacement they wanted 1500 dollars for it. After researching I found this

http://www.carid.com/2001-honda-civi...FdcRgQodxGoATQ

I need to know if this will work, its EPA certified and 50 state legal, to turn my CE light off.

Thanks Everyone

Re: Will this work?

If it's model 82681 then it should be. It's C.A.R.B certified so it should work for CA.

Assuming that your CEL is on for the cat not working properly.

I ordered the same one for my car. I think I actually found it cheapest on amazon. Maybe rockauto. Can't remember. But I want to say it was closer to $350. If you order an OEM replacement from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ it's about $700.

Re: Will this work?

2 spring-loaded bolts from the exhaust manifold to downpipe flared flange, 3 bolts on the downpipe to b-pipe flange. Doughnut gasket on the former, possibly a graphite impregnated gasket for the latter. Easy swap. The biggest pain in the *** part is getting a wrench on the top bolt on the downpipe to b-pipe flange, but with enough patience, it's doable.

Re: Will this work?

I could definitely do this myself, and I have on my pathfinder. However I live in an apartment complex that bans working on cars in the parking spaces. Any where you would suggest getting this done at? I have tried midas but I feel like the dick me around too much.

I think it'd be easy enough to hide from the apartment complex unless you live across from the office. As long as you're not doing an engine swap I'm sure they'll be fine. Might just yell at you a bit or something.

If not then work on it at the back of a lowes or autozone parking lot so if you need something you don't have to go far to get it.

i'm impressed that the fire was out in about 45-60 seconds after they hit it with the hose.

why the hell didn't the store employee use the fire extinguisher that's usually at the front door???
