Rep Power: 0 Steering Problem 2005 Civic
I have a 2005 5 Door Automatic Civic running 18x7.5 rims using Falken F453 215/40 tyres and Bilstein shock absorbers. Until recently the steering was perfect. Now over certain surfaces I get a strange feeling of loosenes in the steering with a slight amount of tramming. It only occurs every now an then generally over brick surfaces or uneven road surfaces.
I run 40Psi in the tyres and they have about 5,000km on them.
There is no uneven wear on the tyres (and no measurable wear at all from new) and it steers and feels good in the steering most of the time so I don't think it is a wheel alignment problem.
Any ideas out there?

subbed.
I am having a similar issue but I am running stock wheels with Hankook tires.
They are brand new tires so I am thinking its just the tires.
While driving on the freeway the steering will feel tight then get a floating feeling and I will have to turn the wheel to the right or left to keep the car straight then after a couple of seconds the car will jerk back and I will have to jerk the wheel slightly to keep from drifting from my lane.
My brother also thinks its the tires. Some tires just like to grab everything in the road. I also have a low whirl noise almost like a wheel bearing but it only started after the tires were replaced so I am thinking just tire noise.
