buying a civic new member question

hey guys new member here i am considering buying a 96 civic ex with a 2000 civic d16y8 vtech swap converted to manual he says the vtech isnt turning on the motor and tranny are like new its a fresh swap the guy says that he didnt change the ecu yet so i have a question what can i do to replace the ecu to make it work with a manual he said the auto ecu works and its been his dd but im curious on how to do the change its a great deal btw

Find an old ECU in a 2000 EX manual at a salvage lot or order one online, most likely.

How do you know the VTEC isn't activating?
