I am just curious to see if it will leak with all of the hole/bolt nonsense that has gone on with it so far.

I won't have you all waiting forever (will Honda Tech be in on it? Hmmm? I have no idea..) and I'm not proceeding until I get SOME kind of torque on that bolt.

Re: First post! And.. issue. My 1995 Honda Civic..

I just got done doing this on the Honda hole remaining. Longer tap is on the way.

Any suggestions/tips/comments?

I don't have time to watch all that.
Why do you have a tap stuck in the head bolt hole in the head?

I got a longer tap today...

Seems that, from the point of idiot mechanic (I don't want to talk about him anymore) using a 7/16" tap, none of the Honda bolts would actually tighten. So, in my efforts to find new bolts.. I am presently re-threading that particular hole, to an M12 of proper length.

Today I have a tap to go ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BLOCK, and yes, found bolt to match it.

This way, I will have that hole holding torque, so my efforts so far aren't wasted.

It's unconventional, sure.. but, I need to give it all I got, because, hey, it just may even work.

The tap I have today will get down to the block.

Re: First post! And.. issue. My 1995 Honda Civic..

The head bolts were not 12mm, and 12mm bolts won't fit through the holes in the head.
Are you going to heli-coil all the holes now?

I have a video uploading.

And, no... Not gonna Heli-Coil all the holes..

The beauty of this is that I don't need Heli-Coil now. I read up on how Time-Serts ARE better, but, I don't even need that now..

I am presently selecting the perfect bolt to go in the now-oversized hole.

That sounds sketchy, You may need to helicoil (if that can be done for head studs) the hole first. Finding a bigger bolt is not the answer.

Good luck.

AP seems to have an M12x1.75 stud in appropriate length..

And I found a tool to smooth the head hole back to threadless.

Honda part of this update is a 4:20

Re: First post! And.. issue. My 1995 Honda Civic..

I ordered the ARP M12x1.75 bolt (5.4" long, they said) AND a nut and washer, 10 minutes ago. I ordered UPS 3-Day Select shipping as they are in Cali, so, it should be here Thursday.

Re: First post! And.. issue. My 1995 Honda Civic..

I broke a 5mm allen/hex on it, what I did wrong or how it went is shown here.

What is the RIGHT way to drive in an ARP head stud?

Re: First post! And.. issue. My 1995 Honda Civic..

I still have a little more to go...

I work tonight, so, the head is in a box, all bolts, and I get to probably continue tomorrow.

I think that once I smooth the head hole, the ARP stud can go in.. I must verify it will slide smoothly.

Also white lithium grease and saw dust fixes the vacuum leak in the side of the throttle body
