97 d16y8 timing issue

I have a 97 d16y8 and it won't rev over 6000 rpm first in 1st gear now all the way through 5. check engine light came on. It read ignition timing and miss fires. Could I have jumped timing bc my timing belt is a little loose?? How do I set all my timing? Is there a way to set my oil pump timing?

Really? What code is that??
I have a 97 d16y8 and it won't rev over 6000 rpm
May or may not be related to any codes. Misfire can kill a cat.

If there is nothing related to it in the code fix, I may check backpressure. Really depends on how it acts and what I think during testing.

If it really is loose, it may be time to replace it.
You may want to consult a real shop manual.

Nope.

Backpressure: as in clogged exhaust/clogged cat.

O2 sensor code: What is the code number?

I don't remember. But I remember some a/d heat sensor code?? I did some research the sensor wouldn't let my motor rev past 6krpm to keep my motor temp low because I have a leak in my radiator and I had very low coolant which we all know keeps the motor temp down

A/F (Air/Fuel ratio) Sensor Heater Circuit?

I don't think US cars got an A/F sensor. It's an O2 sensor in the parts catalog.

I think you have made more than one wrong assumption here. I count at least 3.
At least one of those wrong assumptions will be catastrophic and expensive if ignored (if not already too late).
