component speaker question

hey, i got a question. i'm looking to get some components for the front speakers, but i already bought some boston acoustics two ways last summer, so that's what i have in my car now. the components that i want are the BA rally series components, which are like $360 a pair. don't have the money for that. however, they sell the tweeters and crossovers separately as a set for about $130, which is much more appealing to me. now, here's the question. can i just hook up the RX57 5 1/4" speakers that i have in there now to the crossover, turn the whole system into a component system, and keep a decent level of sound quality? i know that it would be better to buy the whole component set, but like i said, i don't have the money for that. please let me know, any help is appreciated.

The tweeter crossover set will probably only come with a high pass x-over for the tweeters and not the badpass (midrange) part for the 5 1/4 mids you have allready....you can still buy the set and use the extra tweeters so you would have 2 per side....The BA ralley series are pretty sweet and you may want to save up for the whole component set if you want good sound quality

Good Luck
just my $0.02

that sounds possible, but I haven't worked too much with crossovers. I would go with Swifty's response since he is the pro in the field.

The Rally's are a great set.. little power hungry though. Getting the Boston Tweeters isn't the greatest of Ideas.. those tweeters are a little harsh. For a low cost solution what would give you almost the same sound as the BA rally components and allready come with the x-overs are Infinity Kappa's..(big magnets though) or DEI Studio components..(great sound good midbass, 2 1/2" mounting depth) Great cost..

Cheers
