Rep Power: 0 After replacing two valves my 2000 civic mb6 wont start
Hi guys I'm new on here. Using this as a last resort. My mb6 had a cracked valve so I replaced it. Everything went together, I've compression tested it and it's around the 150 mark on all of them bar one where that sits at around 130-140. It has compression, it has spark, it has fuel, I've set the timing as per timing marks for the bottom and top so timing isn't an issue but she doesn't want to start. I'm at the end of my tether now having spent the last two days problem solving. If anyone could she'd any light on me it would great. Many thanks. Treve

The spark timing comes from the distributor; is that set correctly and any chance you mixed up the plug leads? I am thinking if it has spark and fuel but not running, the timing must be out. Are you 180 degrees out on the timing? (the crank rotates twice for every revolution of the cam).

Yeah I was thinking that. I've just set it again. And now the distributor cap has stopped working, prob from so much cranking. Gonna have to find a new one before I can carry on. Thanks for the reply.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

MB6 must be a UK car?
Cranking speed is good, not slow?
The spark needs to be able to jump an air gap of about a half inch or greater (the ignition coil is a first failure item over here).
Mixed up plug wire order around the dist cap is a common error
Ground wires clean and tight on thermostat housing, assuming yours uses that spot as a ground
On some engines it is possible to mix up connectors for TPS and MAP sensors, possibly other sensors too.
Are the fuel injectors clicking/pulsing/squirting fuel during cranking?
Are the spark plugs wet or dry?

Thanks for the reply's. The ignition timing was 180 degrees out. She's started fine again now and is driving like new. Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated.... Take care..... Treve
