The shifter on my sons car moves all over the place, especially side to side. It does go into gear but it's just too much movement. The linkage at the transmission is tight and at the shifter. There is a rod off the end of the linkage connection point that looks like it would fit into a bracket that would limit the side to side movement and still move front to back. I haven't found any drawings that show any type of bracket. Any ideas??? Bob

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I'm used to seeing the bushings worn at the bottom of the shift lever, but anything could happen.

I guess you'll have to get under the car and have someone wiggle the shift lever so you can see where the sloppiness originates.

#17 and 16? I think they might attach to the bottom of the tunnel? Been a long time since I've looked at one.

Thanks Ezone, I checked your drawing a little closer, put on my glasses and found that part 7 is missing. I did shim the bolt that connects the linkage to the shifter and that helped some. Thanks for the help. Bob
