Rep Power: 0 can someone help me with a sound i am hearing?
i had my head gasket replaced 3 weeks ago and everything has been fine since.
i also had my timing belt, serpine belt and water pump changed 12 months/17,000 miles ago.
the sounds seems to be coming from the belt side, maybe tensioner.
the sound is also intermittent, especially at idle.
AC and other components work fine. just the weird sound.
thanks

i would not run the engine again until you have your timing area/belt inspected, you are risking serious engine damage, sounds like something in the timing area, it could be the timing belt rubbing against the timing cover

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Tensioner spring let go, timing belt flopping?

We're only guessing.
Remove the upper timing cover and take a look for yourself.
i got my timing belt done 11 months at 17,000 miles ago.
you think they would fix it for free?

I wouldn't bother with that shop at all until I figured out what the true cause of the noise is.
THEN evaluate and decide what to do about it.
