Drying car after a car wash?

Should we manually dry our cars with towels right after a car wash to prevent rust in the long run? I always leave the water on my car after each wash, didnt think it was bad.

Re: Drying car after a car wash?

I dry it. Probably does prevent rusting in spots where the water gets to sit without sun drying on it.. I open up all the doors get the bottom of the doors open the truck get the water around the edge etc.. I mainly do it for hard water marks tho.. white stains on a black car show.

Re: Drying car after a car wash?

I turn my water hose to a very low pressure. I have a shutoff valve at the hose end. I wet one section at a time. Soap, then rinse, then towel dry. When I rinse, I make sure the water does not get on another section. Repeat for next section (hood, left fender, left door, etc) Takes longer but no spots and great results.

You see in movies where they have the hose wide open and spraying everywhere. Really inefficient way to wash a car.

the small hair drier is best, but takes an afternoon to dry out the wheel wells and trunk (What? i need new seals in the trunk!) .
Need to negotiate with the wife to use.
